Conus (Stephanoconus) gramonti (Cossmann, 1923)




Descrizione e caratteristiche:


Taille moyenne; forme biconique; spire assez élevée, extraconique; tours nombreux, étroits, crénelés en avant, déclives et sillonnés en arriere; sutures fines. Dernier tour égal aux treize seiziemes de la hauteur, a gal be un peu ovoidal, plus rectiligne vers le cou, orné de Filets spiraux, un peu ondulés ou plutot déplacés par les accroissements ; les crénelures sont presque effacées à la périphérie arrondie de la rampe suprasuturale; ouverture elroite, a bords presque paralleles, un peu élargie vers la troncature du canal; labre presque vertical, faiblement échancré sur la rampe (1).

 

DIM. — Longueur : 40 mm. ; diametre : 17,5 mm.

 

RAPP. ET DIFFER. — Aucun Stephanoconus parisien n'a une forme aussi eiroite, leurs tours sont anguleux, leur ornementation est plus grossiere. D'autre part, Hemiconus Rouaulti — ci-apres decrit — a un galbe tout different et ne pent appartenir au méme groupe de Conides, malgré l'apparente analogie de leur ornementation qui differe d'ailleurs dans ses details (1).

 

 

 

Average height; biconical shape; fairly high, extra-conical whorl; many towers, narrow, crenellated in front, sloping and furrowed behind; fine sutures. Last turn equal to thirteen sixteenths of the height, with a slightly ovoid shape, more rectilinear towards the neck, adorned with spiral nets, a little wavy or rather displaced by the growths; the crenellations are almost erased at the rounded periphery of the suprasutural ramp; narrow opening, with almost parallel edges, slightly widened towards the truncation of the canal; almost vertical labrum, slightly indented on the ramp (1).

 

DIM. — Length: 40mm. ; diameter: 17,5mm.

 

REP. AND DIFFER. — No Parisian Stephanoconus has such a narrow form, their towers are angular, their ornamentation is coarser. On the other hand, Hemiconus Rouaulti - described below - has an entirely different curve and cannot belong to the same group of Conidae, despite the apparent analogy of their ornamentation which differs in its details (1).
