Conus tahuensis (Allan, 1926)
Description.
Shell fusiformis. Sculpture consists of growth-lines showing a rounded sinus above keel. First whorl with traces of axial nodules; later wohrls show traces of spiral ribs. Spire elevated, staged. Whorls 5; keel high in body-whorl but below centre on succeeding whorls. Protochonch of 2 whorls, proboscidiform. Suture impressed, margined below. Aperture long, oblique, slit-like3, with an open canal (1).
A rather small, slender Conilithes with moderatly tall, gradate spire sharply shouldered just above suture on spire whorls; last whorl contracted slowly, unexcavated. Sutural ramp gently sloping, slightly concave. Spiral sculpture of narrow cords, most prominent on anterior half of last whorl, becoming obsolete posteriorly and not persisting onto sutural ramp. Axial sculpture of weak peripheral nodules confined to first whorl or so of teleoconch (2).
