Conus (Hemiconus) turbinopsis (Deshayes, 1865)

 


Relatively large, ovately biconical Hemiconus without tubercles on the adult whorls which are, however, slightly convex in the lower part; subsutural cord divided into numerous somewhat elongate beads ; spire 33% of shell height, protoconch large, up to diameter 1 mm, paucispiral of 1.75 whorls with a very shallow suture ; spire profile slightly convex (cyrtoconoid), shoulder obtusely rounded, last whorl straight to mildly convex in adults; ornament of spiral threads, usually weak or effaced,  but more marked in smaller shells. Columella more or less straight above, concave below. Up to 25 x 11 mm (D
ESHAYES, 1865); Cotentin specimens reach 25.2 x 11.2 mm. (3).
