Conus (Lindaconus) streami (Petuch, 1994)
Description (2): Shell small for sub-genus, stocky, broad across shoulder, subpyriform, with rounded, convex sides on body whorl; spire low, pyramidal; spire whorls slightly canaliculate; shell smooth and polished, with 15-18 large spiral cords around anterior tip; aperture narrow; shoulder rounded.
Holotype: UF66432, Length 60 mm.
Type Locality: Pinecrest Beds Fauna (uppermost beds only), from Petuch Unit 3 ("pearly mussel bed"), Phase 6 pit, Quality Aggregates, Sarasota, Sarasota County. Inc.,
Remarks: A comparison of Conus streami with its closest relative, C. martinshugari n. sp. (Plate 93, Figure H) was given under the description of C. martinshugari. The new species has only been collected in the mussel beds (Perna conradiana Petuch Unit 3) at the Quality Aggregates and APAC pits in Sarasota.
Etymology: Named for Mr. Dale Stream of Sarasota, Florida.
