Conus (Osceolaconus) osceolai (Petuch, 1991)

 

 

 

Note the completely smooth and deeply canaliculate spire whorls of the genus Osceolaconus. This group of left-handed cones lacks the beaded and knobbed spires and beaded early whorls that are so conspicuous on their sister group, Contraconus.

Length 81 mm, Bergeron Star Ranch Pit, US Highway 27, 15 miles south of South Bay,

Palm Beach County, Florida.

Type species of the genus Osceolaconus.
