Conus (Conasprella) maureenae (Petuch, 1994)
Description (2): Shell of average size for genus, extremely elongated, slender and cylindrical, with very high, very protracted and scalariform spire; shoulder sharply-angled, subcari-nate; body whorl sculptured with 18-20 low, rounded spiral cords; deeply-impressed spiral sulci present be-tween spiral cords on anterior half of body whorl; aperture narrow, widening slightly anteriorly.
Holotype: UF66436, Length 28 mm.
Type Locality: Holey Land Fauna, from Capeletti Brothers pit #11, NW 47th west of Florida Turnpike, Miami, Dade County.
Remarks: With its extremely elongated shape, C. maureenae is one of the most distinctive Conasprella species found in Florida. The new species is only similar to the younger, Bermont C. hyshugari n. sp. (Plate 94, Figure I), but differs in being a much more slender, elongated shell with a proportionally higher spire.
Etymology: Named for Ms. Maureen Shugar of Hollywood, Florida.
Per Hendricks è sinonimo del Conus jaspideus.
